I am an unabashed bargain hunter, but I also love a glamorous dress! Consequently, I am excited to share my tips for finding a gorgeous cruise formal night dress under $100!
There are many places you can find quality (think Calvin Klein, Eliza J, Ralph Lauren, Adrianna Papell) on a budget, but it requires work. I’ve scoured discount stores, sale racks of department stores, and even catalogs. I’ve even gone the eBay route which is a little hit and miss. If you go that route, you ideally know the brand, are positive the dress is flawless, and the seller has a solid return policy in case it doesn’t work for you. Also, I want to see photos of the actual dress, not the one they found online from the original retailer.
When to Buy
Always ensure that delivery time will get the dress to you well in advance of your cruise so you have time to find a replacement if need be. Otherwise, you may find yourself doing an exhaustive search the week before your cruise to replace a dress that doesn’t work.
A Word About Sizing
Remember that formal wear can run smaller than casual dresses. When in doubt, take your measurements and check them against the store guidelines. If possible, order two different sizes so you can find your best fit and return what you don’t need.
Not Sure What to Wear?
Be sure to check out my post “What to Wear on Formal Night” for information about cruise line dress guidelines, commonly seen styles, and examples of what is typically worn on formal or elegant night.
Let’s Go Shopping!
To help in your search (and feed my own love of dress hunting) I’ve provided the following catalog of dresses. These will be updated once a week since many of these are sale dresses. Additionally, since these are sale dresses, be warned that sizes and colors may be a bit more limited. And yes, these are affiliate links. 🙂
However and wherever you find your dream dress, I hope you enjoy the hunt!
